With an entirely new defensive coaching staff in town, Philadelphia Eagles fans could be looking at a much different defensive unit in 2024.

Philly took a step back defensively in 2023 following its Super Bowl run, giving up over 25 points a game and posting 27 fewer sacks than the 70 it had in 2022.

One potential target has emerged in free agency to help provide reinforcements, as The Athletic’s Diana Russini has reported that fans should keep an eye out for the Eagles to “aggressively pursue” Bryce Huff in free agency.

The Eagles have been shopping both Josh Sweat and Haasan Riddick for the last few weeks. Look for Philadelphia to aggressively pursue Bryce Huff in free agency.

Huff is fresh off a career year for the New York Jets, posting a career-high 10 sacks while playing in all 17 games.

The soon-to-be 26-year-old now heads into free agency with the leverage of having a double-digit sack season under his belt and should have no shortage of teams vying for his services.

Russini also noted that the Eagles have already been aggressively shopping Josh Sweat and Haason Reddick, either of which would create a massive void in the defense.

Sweat has 35 sacks over the past five years and Reddick has 27 sacks in his two seasons as an Eagle.

If all this did take place, Huff would have the opportunity to get on the field a lot more, which is something he might not have the opportunity to do in New York.

Early reports all point to the Eagles making big changes on both sides of the ball following changes in the coaching staff.

It’s unclear what the motives are behind potentially swapping out Reddick and Sweat for Huff, but we’re sure to learn much more in the coming weeks.
