The Philadelphia Eagles are in the midst of gearing up for their final preseason game.

One player who will now not be getting ready with the team is veteran tight end C.J. Uzomah.

According to insider Jeff McLane, the Eagles recently released the 31-year-old pass-catcher.

Although disappointing, the move now gives Uzomah an opportunity to find a new home before the start of the regular season.

Entering his 10th NFL season, Uzomah has been a serviceable role player throughout his career.

Statistically, his best career season came in his final season with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021 when he put up 49 receptions for 493 yards and five touchdowns.

Uzomah could very well be looking to join a contender now that he is in his early 30s.

Right off the bat, a team that could use him might be an old team of his in the New York Jets.

Uzomah spent each of the last two seasons there before joining the Eagles earlier this offseason.

Gang Green never really replaced Uzomah after letting him become a free agent earlier this offseason, but they could bring him back on a cheap deal to give star quarterback Aaron Rodgers another weapon.

There are always other contending teams, such as the Kansas City Chiefs, San Francisco 49ers, and Detroit Lions, that might be interested in adding some more depth behind their star tight ends.

Time will tell whether or not Uzomah can find the right situation with the right team ahead of the start of the regular season.
