A cool part of playing in MLB is that you get to customize and give some of your gear and equipment a nice personal touch.
Some players have chains, others use cool shirts, others customize their gloves, and others have personal bats with their nickname or a signature.
In the specific case of Cincinnati Reds young phenom Elly De La Cruz, his sliding mitt has a cool message that goes nicely with his skillset.
Per MLB Life, it says “absolutely ridiculous”.

That’s a nice touch, if we are being honest.
De La Cruz is, indeed, absolutely ridiculous.
In a matter of weeks, he has shown that the only player who can quite compare with him skills-wise is Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Oneil Cruz.
In fact, they might be twin brothers: both are extremely fast, both can hit the ball a mile, and both have an incredible arm.
De La Cruz is spicy and exciting.
This week, he hit a home run off the Washington Nationals and gestured towards opposing manager Davey Martinez because he had asked umpires to inspect his bat prior to his first time up.
That was cold, and the vast majority of fans enjoyed it.
It’s part of his “absolutely ridiculous” package as a player.
As of Friday afternoon, De La Cruz is slashing a cool .325/.361/.544 with four home runs and 12 stolen bases.
He can impact a game in a million ways, and as long as he is healthy, the Reds will likely hold the NL Central lead for a long time.
