Unfortunately for them, most players don’t get to have a long and/or successful career in the NFL.

Football is a physical game that takes a big toll on the body, and the mental demands of being a professional athlete are also major factors to consider.

That’s why, even though some manage to become stars, they don’t usually play for that long.

Moreover, that’s also why it’s so crucial for players to have a plan for after their playing days, which doesn’t happen very often.

Recently, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce revealed that he was actually looking forward to becoming a broadcaster once he was done playing, up to the point that he would rather have that future than be a minority owner of a team.

With that in mind, legendary RB Eric Dickerson talked about Kelce and how he had the perfect personality to thrive on television (Via TMZ Sports):

“Travis has a great personality,” the former Rams running back told TMZ this week. “He’s a great player. He knows football extremely well.”

Travis and his brother Jason have found quite the success with their New Heights podcast.

He’s got the charisma and football knowledge to do just fine on the sidelines, just like Dickerson did briefly when he worked as an analyst for Monday Night Football.

Kelce also claimed that he was nowhere near done in the league or thinking about retirement, adding that he would play until he was physically capable of doing so.

Even so, all things considered, chances are there are at least three companies thinking about reaching out to him with an offer for his post-playing days.
