Many great young players continue to ascend in the NBA.

One of the top young players in the sport is Minnesota Timberwolves guard Anthony Edwards.

In just three seasons in the NBA, he has already been named an All-Star.

Plus, he has established himself as one of the premier scorers in the league.

Last season, Edwards averaged 24.6 points per game.

He has increased his points per game each season of his career.

Edwards is spending his offseason playing for Team USA in the FIBA Basketball World Cup.

One of the assistant coaches on that team is Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra.

Spoelstra made an interesting comparison to who Edwards reminds him of.

According to Bleacher Report, Spoelstra compared Edwards to NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade.

He said: “It’s hard not to look at Anthony Edwards and see Dwyane Wade in him.”

Spoelstra spent many years coaching Wade as they won multiple championships together.

Comparing any current player to Wade is a great honor.

He feels strongly about what he has seen from Edwards while coaching him this offseason.

Entering his fourth NBA season, it would not be a surprise to see Edwards take another jump.

He has the talent to be an MVP-caliber player.

Spoelstra has coached many great players over the years and he has a wealth of basketball knowledge.

If he sees something special in Edwards, we should all take notice.

It will be fun to watch Edwards compete in the World Cup and flourish for the rest of his NBA career.
