The number one overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, Victor Wembanyama, is yet to play a single game in the league, but he’s already expected to become a superstar in the future.
Wembanyama showcased signs of stardom during the San Antonio Spurs‘ 120-104 victory against the Miami Heat in the preseason.
He put up 23 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists in the victory.
Wembanyama played well and had fans on the edge of their seats for almost the entire 23 minutes that he played during the game.
Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra spoke on Twitter about facing Wembanyama via Paul Garcia.
“All the hype and everything, it seems like it’s real,” Spoelstra said.

Coach Spoelstra had big praise for the 7’4″ forward, who seems to be getting better with each game in the preseason.
In fact, Spoelstra went as far as confirming that all the hype around Victor Wembanyama is real.
The Heat head coach was dumbfounded by Wembanyama’s ability to dunk with minimal jumping.
Erik Spoelstra is currently one of the best coaches in the NBA right now as he has led the Miami Heat to two NBA Finals over the last four seasons.
It’s obvious that Spoelstra’s acknowledgment of Wembanyama’s talent is a huge deal.
As for Wembanyama’s biggest targets for his rookie year, leading the Spurs back to the postseason should be his number one priority.
The Spurs may have won five NBA Championships under coach Gregg Popovich, but in recent years, the team has become a bottom-feeder.
So much so that the Spurs haven’t even advanced to the playoffs in the past four seasons.
