Between the NFL‘s two conferences, many see the AFC as the stronger of the two.
The AFC has many of the league’s top young quarterbacks, which is likely to be a contributing factor to this opinion.
ESPN has recently posted AFC teams with the best chance to make this year’s playoffs, according to their analytics department via Dov Kleiman.

According to these analytics, The Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals, and Buffalo Bills have the three highest odds to make the playoffs.
The Chiefs have won their division for seven-straight seasons and are a near-lock for success again this year.
While the Bengals and Bills aren’t necessarily a lock to win their respective divisions, their recent playoff success indicates they will likely make it again.
The next three teams, according to ESPN, are the Jacksonville Jaguars, Baltimore Ravens, and New York Jets.
Aaron Rodgers’ effect is already being shown with these rankings, considering the Jets haven’t been to the playoffs in 12 seasons.
Trevor Lawrence is set to improve again this year, and Lamar Jackson is back with the Ravens, motivated by his new contract.
The next four teams in the rankings are the Los Angeles Chargers, Miami Dolphins, Cleveland Browns, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
While the Chargers and Dolphins are given around a 50% chance at the playoffs, the Browns and Steelers don’t share the same confidence.
As previously indicated, elite quarterback play has been a big reason for the increased success of AFC teams.
Many of these teams’ playoff chances will be dictated by their quarterbacks.
