ESPN has undergone a shake-up lately, as it has laid off a large number of people, including some of its highest-profile broadcasters and commentators for the coverage of multiple sports.
It has also hired Pat McAfee from “The Pat McAfee Show,” and it could be looking to onboard some additional new talent.
Per Dov Kleiman, the network is interested in bringing in Colin Cowherd, one of the more popular sports commentators who is currently with Fox Sports.

Cowherd was with ESPN for many years until he made a controversial comment about baseball players from the Dominican Republic, which led to the network cutting ties with him.
He has been with Fox Sports ever since, where he is the host of “The Herd With Colin Cowherd.”
Fox Sports also has some uncertainty about the future of some of its big personalities.
Weeks ago, Shannon Sharpe abruptly left “Undisputed,” where he had been teamed up with veteran commentator and journalist Skip Bayless for seven years.
Fox Sports is still looking for a new co-host to sit alongside Bayless, and it is rumored that former NFL star cornerback Richard Sherman is a leading candidate.
As a result, “Undisputed,” which has been one of Fox Sports’ highest-rated shows, has been on a hiatus.
If the network were to lose Cowherd to ESPN, it would be a huge blow.
FS1 has struggled for years to gain a significant foothold, as ESPN has dominated the sports television market for decades, and luring Cowherd away could help ESPN continue to do so.
