The Dallas Mavericks are going through some rough moments after being eliminated from playoff contention.

With their 115-122 loss against the Chicago Bulls on Friday night, they lost every hope to even make it to the play-in tournament.

The situation was already bad for the team, as the Kyrie Irving trade didn’t work out as expected.

All the moves they made to create a championship team weren’t enough and everybody had something to say about it.

Analyst Bill Simmons shared his honest thoughts on this, calling out the Mavs’ front office.

Wow the Mavs traded Finney-Smith, Dinwiddie and a 2029 unprotected first so they could go in a complete tailspin and tank the last 2 games of the season. I’m almost in awe! Do I have to bring back the Atrocious GM Summit?

Fans reacted to these comments, trying to put the blame on either team owner Mark Cuban or general manager Nico Harrison.

Is it an Atrocious GM or Atrocious GM/Owner? Nico is just the guy in the room. Cuban makes all these calls

That is EXACTLY what happened.

The effect that kyrie has on certain executives and owners is a true case study. Like did Nico Harrison not see that he doesn’t play D? I’m confused

As bad as things are for Dallas now it will get much worse if they sign Kyrie to a long term deal.

This was the worst scenario the Mavericks could have thought of when they traded for Kyrie Irving.

The former Brooklyn Nets player showed that he can be great in Dallas alongside Luka Doncic, but the team’s defense really hurt them this season.

Now, things could get a lot worse for them if they don’t find the right pieces to build around their two stars.

This is pending that they can re-sign Kyrie Irving this offseason.

In the case the 2016 NBA champion rejects them, it’ll be a huge blunder for the Mavs.

Time will tell how this situation plays out for the team.

They are reportedly working to get a lottery pick in the upcoming NBA Draft.

Landing a top prospect in the next months could be great for them.

Otherwise, they are in danger of losing Luka Doncic in the summer of 2024.

It took the Mavs less than two months to go from buzzing about a blockbuster trade to tanking.

As their summer starts early, major questions loom, beginning with the futures of Kyrie Irving and ultimately Luka Doncic.

The Mavericks have high expectations this season, but the development of the campaign was nothing like they wanted.

Now, they need to make some difficult decisions if they want to challenge for the NBA championship in the future.
