When the Pittsburgh Steelers used a first-round pick on Kenny Pickett in the 2022 NFL Draft, their decision was immediately met with criticism and several questions.
Pickett was a polarizing prospect coming into the 2022 draft, a historically weak quarterback class.
The Steelers were looking for a replacement for Ben Roethlisberger, and while Pickett had a few flashes, he didn’t end up panning out.
When the Steelers added Justin Fields and Russell Wilson in the 2024 offseason, it became evident that Pickett was not going to have much of a role moving forward.
They ended up trading him to the Philadelphia Eagles, where he was said to learn, grow, and develop under Jalen Hurts, hoping to further his career.
While he hasn’t been with the Eagles long, fans have already made up their mind about Pickett.
He got a chance to play in the Eagles’ most recent preseason game, going 11/13 for 67 yards.
While only having two incompletions looks good on paper, fans were not impressed with what they saw on the field.

If you’re a Pittsburgh Steeler fan and had to spend your last 2 years convincing yourself Kenny Pickett could be a franchise quarterback, you may be entitled to financial compensation.

I can’t believe I let Kenny Pickett convince me he was the second coming last preseason

The #Eagles need to move on from Kenny Pickett and name Tanner McKee the backup.
McKee will be a very very capable backup quarterback in the league for a long time.
While Pickett clearly just does not have what it takes to be in this league.

At one point in this preseason game, Pickett had a receiver that was wide open down the field, but he was, unfortunately, unable to make the connection.
This caused fans, including ML Football on Twitter, to say that Pickett’s time with the Eagles should be short-lived.
Despite his draft capital, he has been outplayed by Tanner McKee in the preseason and hasn’t looked competent enough to keep his roster spot moving forward, especially since Hurts is still with the team.
