The NFL preseason is now over.
Teams had a final opportunity to see their roster in action, hopefully helping them make their final roster decisions.
The New England Patriots finally seemed to get a positive return from Drake Maye, who looked confident and poised down the stretch.
Maye’s performance yielded a lot of positive conversations on social media, as people were excited to see a great game out of him.
While Maye’s play received a lot of positive marks, the same could not be said for the Patriots’ offensive line.
Fans took to social media to talk about their line, which included reporter Mark Daniels, who called it a “nightmare.”
This offensive line is a nightmare.
That drive saw three holding penalties – two on third down (Sow and Onwenu).

Daniels said that on just one drive, the line was responsible for three holding penalties, two of those came on third down.
This cannot happen in a regular season game if the Patriots want any chances of the 2024 campaign being better than their 2023 seasons.

As Bill Simmons pointed out, for instance, the Patriots didn’t invest much capital into their offensive line during the offseason, and it shows.
Maye might be proving that he should be their Week 1 starter, but if he gets injured due to poor offensive line play, what’s the point?
The Patriots have a lot of work to do before the season opener, and only have less than two weeks to work out all their bugs.
If they can’t, it could be another tough season for this organization with a rich history of winning.
