At one point during his career in the NBA, Ben Simmons was considered one of the most versatile players in the league and one of the best two-way players, with the ability to be a lockdown defender and make things happen offensively with his unique passing ability.
Simmons was part of one of the elite one-two punches in the NBA while playing alongside superstar center Joel Embiid on the Philadelphia 76ers, a team with title-contending aspirations with these two stars leading the way.
Unfortunately, after an epic collapse in the NBA playoffs a few years ago, Simmons was never the same player and pushed his way out of Philadelphia, eventually landing with the Brooklyn Nets, where he’s really struggled to stay healthy and has become one of the worst contracts in the league.
Ever since joining the Nets after his stint with the 76ers, Simmons has played in only 57 games for Brooklyn while frequently being hurt and a player always mentioned as someone the team would like to move off of because of his limitations on the court and consistently being unavailable.
Unfortunately for Simmons, he has become a player that gets joked about more than praised these days, as every picture of him working out in the offseason turns into a punchline, like this one with Matisse Thybulle via Sixerdaily on IG.

Simmons’ reputation for being a lousy shooter continues to follow him, and with his injury issues on top of that, the former All-Star can’t seem to catch a break.
As of right now, there’s no telling whether he’ll be able to resurrect his career in the NBA or if he’ll get another contract with a team after the upcoming season if he doesn’t prove his worth with the Nets in 2024-25.
