The Washington Commanders hired Dan Quinn to be their next head coach.

He was always their top candidate and mentioned for weeks as a potential hire, yet it was still kind of surprising.

Many people thought the new ownership would lean towards hiring an offensive-minded coach, especially considering how things didn’t work out under Ron Rivera.

With that in mind, NFL legend Michael Irvin questioned what’s going on with Eric Bieniemy and why he didn’t get a chance.

“What’s going on with Eric Bieniemy?” Irvin said.

This seems to be the same question that everyone is asking.

Talking on Undsputed, he questioned why we didn’t hear anything about Bieniemy even being considered as a potential head coach candidate for this team.

That has been an ongoing trend for years now.

Despite being the architect behind the best offense in the league during his days with the Kansas City Chiefs, he didn’t seem to get enough credit and praise around the league, let alone a head coaching opportunity.

Most people thought he would take over for Rivera if he was fired, but that wasn’t the case.

Of course, the Commanders’ offense wasn’t that good in his first year as offensive coordinator, so that may have taken a toll on his chances to get the job.

Then again, it is curious as to why one of the best offensive minds in the game, a former player and someone who’s been around and helped a team win multiple championships, isn’t getting an opportunity while everybody else does.

Perhaps he’s not as good in interviews as he is at fielding and putting together trick plays.
