Ezekiel Elliott Has Made 1 Notable Change For This Season

After a successful tenure with the Dallas Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliott was released and he wound up with the New England Patriots in free agency.

The Patriots have always placed a premium on the ground game and Elliott figures to come in and be a bruising tailback who churns out yards on first down and short-yardage situations.

Rhamondre Stevenson is New England’s best running back as he is a dual-threat player who can do as much damage running the ball as he can as a pass catcher.

Elliott is far from the player he used to be as he looked much slower during his final season with the Cowboys, though the Patriots are hoping the former star still has some gas left in the tank.

Entering the 2023 season, New England will most likely be leaning on its backfield tandem to help Mac Jones and the offense move the chains.

In order to prepare for his new role, it appears that Elliott made sure his conditioning was up to par via Peter Schrager of NFL Network.

He has reportedly lost 15 pounds this offseason.

After years of dealing with nagging injuries, it appears that Elliott slimmed down in order to ease some of the pressure on his knees and perhaps even rediscover his short-area quickness and burst.

In his heyday, Elliott was one of the league’s best runners as he had a knack for eluding and breaking tackles but that hasn’t been the case the past couple of years.

Bill Belichick loves running the football, so Elliott could be in store for a resurgence year if his new physique holds up.
