After a disappointing 2023 NFL season in which the team failed to live up to expectations and was bested by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New Orleans Saints in the NFC South division, the Atlanta Falcons have pulled out all the stops during the NFL offseason in order to get this struggling franchise back on track.

Obviously, the most significant move the team has made during the offseason thus far has been signing veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year deal, with $100 million of that contract being fully guaranteed.

Although it is a risk with Cousins not getting any younger at 35 and coming off Achilles surgery, the Falcons are confident he’s the right man for the job under center for the time being and will help this team get back to where it was with Matt Ryan at the helm.

Along with Cousins, the team also brought in rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. to provide some insurance behind the veteran, which was a questionable move but secured the position moving forward.

According to Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the team made two more signings this week with the team being impressed by defensive lineman Bradlee Anae and defensive back Dane Cruikshank after tryouts on Friday.

These are not game-changing moves by any means for the Falcons, but it does address the defense, which is something that probably should’ve had more emphasis during this offseason.

It’ll be interesting to see how everything comes together in Atlanta during the 2024 campaign and whether the squad can win the NFC South division this time around.
