The Atlanta Falcons parted ways with head coach Arthur Smith.
Getting to seven wins wasn’t good enough, especially in the weakest division in the league.
They’re so close to being a competing team and have stacked their team with elite talent in the first round of the NFL Draft for quite a while now.
However, their quarterback situation has held them back more often than not, and that’s something they desperately need to address this season.
Considering that, GM Terry Fontenot talked about their sense of urgency and how they know they have to get things right this time around.
Talking at the NFL Scouting Combine, he claimed that the team would do it’s due diligence to get their guy and would be very aggressive to get better at the most crucial position in the game (via Cameron Wolfe).
“We have to get it right. We haven’t shied away from that and that’s critical,” Fontenot said.

The Falcons have three strong building blocks in Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Bijan Robinson.
They have the No. 8 pick in the NFL Draft, a pick they could use to trade up and get one of the top-three guys.
They could also pursue a veteran option, with Justin Fields being a name that’s been linked to them for months now.
They could also pursue someone in free agency, but the names in this class aren’t significantly better than what they’ve had in the past.
Whatever the case, the team is looking to get back to contention once and for all, and Raheem Morris will have to work his magic to make sure whoever is at QB is in a position to succeed in Georgia.
