After a forgettable 2023 NFL season in which the team immediately fired head coach Arthur Smith once the year was officially over, the Atlanta Falcons headed into the offseason determined to right the ship with a new head coach to call the shots on the sideline and a new starting quarterback to get the job done on the gridiron.

The Falcons did a great job of addressing these two areas during the offseason as they brought in Raheem Morris, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams, to be Smith’s successor while also replacing youngster Desmond Ridder with former Minnesota Vikings star Kirk Cousins.

Along with adding Morris and Cousins into the mix in Atlanta, the Falcons have made some other additions like rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr. and most recently added former Denver Broncos star safety Justin Simmons.

With the Falcons serious about being a playoff team and a potential contender during the 2024 NFL season, Atlanta isn’t messing around when it comes to players that deserve to be on the final roster, as they recently parted ways with wide receiver James Washington, according to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.

At one point in time, Washington was a promising young player for the Pittsburgh Steelers, as many anticipated him having a bright future in the NFL and possibly becoming one of the better pass-catchers in the league.

Unfortunately, things haven’t panned out as expected for Washington, as he only played two games for the Dallas Cowboys in 2022 and missed the entire 2023 campaign.

With the Falcons already having one of the most talented offenses in the league led by Bijan Robinson, Drake London, Kyle Pitts and Cousins, Washington was a long shot to make the roster and will have to try to land with another team in hopes of making a roster before Week 1.
