The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets for the second consecutive year in the playoffs and now go into the offseason full of questions about their roster.
The Lakers got strong seasons from LeBron James and Anthony Davis, who managed to stay relatively healthy during the 2023-24 NBA season, but the supporting cast was up and down in the playoffs against the Nuggets.
Now, Los Angeles is being linked to several star guards like Trae Young and Donovan Mitchell, who could request trades this summer.
Young and Mitchell are both scoring guards who could hypothetically take over offensively for James and Davis in the halfcourt.
However, the Lakers have also been linked to Kyrie Irving, who is currently in the midst of a dominant playoff run with the Dallas Mavericks.
James has taken note of Irving’s performances in the postseason and fans are convinced that he wants to reunite with his former Cleveland Cavaliers teammate, via LakeShowYo on Twitter.

Both James and Irving haven’t denied their interest in a potential reunion, though it was out of their hands as the general managers and team owners involved didn’t green light a deal.
There’s no telling what Los Angeles might’ve looked like with Irving on the roster, but he surely would’ve given them a better chance at beating the defending champions because of his otherworldly scoring ability.
For now, it seems like the moment has passed for James to play with Irving again barring a massive change from the Mavericks brass.
