On Thursday, the Las Vegas Raiders made a lot of noise during their training camp in Costa Mesa, California, with one of the team’s rookies taking a Kermit the Frog puppet dressed up like Kansas City Chiefs superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes and playing with it for the camera.
As these kinds of things tend to do, the video made the rounds on social media and inevitably got back to the three-time Super Bowl champion, who was asked about the Raiders making fun of him during a Chiefs press conference after practice on Friday.
There is already a lot of tension between these bitter division rivals, especially after the Netflix special “Quarterback” and Las Vegas beating Kansas City at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on Christmas Day last year. This will only make things that much more heated moving forward.
When asked about the incident that is getting a lot of attention on social media, Mahomes made a simple statement, which showed his frustration but also his focus via Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team.
“It’ll get handled when it gets handled,” Mahomes said.

As if the rivalry between the Raiders and Chiefs wasn’t already at peak levels after everything that has gone on over the past year or so, not to mention Kansas City winning a Super Bowl at Allegiant Stadium back in February, the Week 8 showdown between these two teams will certainly be must-see TV.
At that point in the season, which will be the first of two meetings between the AFC West rivals, both teams will have a sense of where they are going, and if both are winning games, this game could mean a lot for the playoff picture in the conference and division.
