After making a name for himself at the University of Oregon last year, cornerback Khyree Jackson was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the fourth round of the 2024 NFL Draft at No. 108 overall.

Jackson was expected to be a solid addition to a Vikings defense that needed a boost after a forgettable 2023 campaign, in which the team finished with four straight losses and a record of 7-10 that wasn’t good enough to secure a playoff spot in the NFC.

Unfortunately, tragedy struck well before Jackson could make his debut in a Vikings uniform in Minnesota, as he tragically passed away in a car accident earlier this month, which sent shockwaves throughout the franchise and the rest of the NFL.

Despite never suiting up for the Vikings, Minnesota has committed to helping pay for the 24-year-old’s funeral. Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team reports that the team will cover a significant portion of the funeral expenses for their rookie corner.

This is a very kind gesture by the Vikings organization.

The Vikings are doing something that they don’t have to do in order to help the Jackson family, which should be commended.
