Steve Nash is known as one of the greatest players in NBA history, but he was a bit of a late bloomer.

He entered the league as a part of that legendary class of 1996 after a four-year stint with the Santa Clara University Broncos, but he was barely able to make an impact in his first tenure with the Phoenix Suns.

But following his breakout with the Dallas Mavericks, the Canadian PG came back to the Valley of the Sun as a bona fide star and the best playmaker in the game.

Today marks the 19th anniversary of Nash’s return to Phoenix, and fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on that stretch of his career.

Nash was the undisputed best point guard on Earth during that time, leading the Suns to one of their most entertaining eras ever.

That “seven-seconds-or-less” offense was as mesmerizing as it was unstoppable.

And while one could argue that Nash’s scoring numbers weren’t exactly impressive, especially if compared with other stars at the time, he was — by far — the best player on the best team in the league, so it would be hard to say that he wasn’t a worthy or deserving winner.

Nash was never able to win a championship, but he’s still one of the most impactful and influential point guards ever.
