The NBA is full of bucket-getters, but while some are able to make a name for themselves and be memorable, others not so much.

It’s safe to say that J.R. Smith was one of the first group, as the former two-time NBA champion was always a part of the news cycle for one reason or another.

Smith helped the Cleveland Cavaliers during their championship run and then won another ring with LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers, albeit playing a lesser role.

That’s why many fans took to Twitter to wish the now-golfer a happy birthday today.

JR Smith was electric & a walking highlight reel for most of his career.

Smith wasn’t always respected because of his questionable shot selection and decisions at times.

But he was a walking bucket when he was at his best and the kind of guy who would be more efficient when taking heavily-contested shots than wide-open.

Smith also played solid defense in his prime, and he was able to salvage his career when he focused solely on basketball after being traded to Cleveland.

He shook off that bad boy image, and he ended up being instrumental in Tyronn Lue’s team in that championship run, which is why Cavaliers fans cherish him.

Of course, there’s also that epic blunder that cost them a win in the NBA Finals vs. the Golden State Warriors when he dribbled out the clock.

But that was just the good old J.R. Smith.

You live by him, die by him, and just enjoy the ride.
