Damar Hamlin shook the football world when he underwent cardiac arrest during a Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals in the 2022-23 NFL season, and he made a spirited return to the field last season and appeared in five games and recorded a pair of tackles.

The Buffalo Bills recently made a big roster decision regarding Hamlin, and fans had plenty to say about the situation.

After appearing in five games last year in a complementary role, the Bills announced on Wednesday that Hamlin will be starting Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals, the first time he’ll be starting since his heart incident.

Such a blessing to see where he has come from, from the incident. Good to see he is not only in good spirits but great health. S/O to the whole league & the Bills organization for looking out for his recovery

Nice story, it took him a long time to get back on track but this may be a great season for him

Hamlin was having a breakout year in 2022 before the injury and put up 91 tackles, 1.5 sacks, and a forced fumble in 15 games.

Head coach Sean McDermott praised Hamlin’s toughness in coming back from this travesty, saying “What else can’t this young man do? It’s one thing to come back off of an ACL or a broken bone. It’s another thing to come back off of what he came back off of, right? Let alone just to decide to play football and contact football, right, and full pads at the NFL level. I don’t think I need to say anything more. I mean, it’s incredible.”

The 26-year-old has been getting first-team reps throughout camp and will be joined by Taylor Rapp as the team’s new pair of starting safeties after Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer both left the team this offseason after starting alongside one another for seven years.
