Second-round picks rarely turn out to be stars in the NBA.
Of course, we’ve seen several exceptions, and some late-round picks have ended up having Hall of Famer-caliber careers.
We’ve seen it happen with guys like Manu Ginobili, Nikola Jokic, Draymond Green, Dennis Rodman, and many more, but they’re outliers.
That’s why it doesn’t make a lot of sense to expect anything different from this year’s No. 55 pick, Bronny James.
Even so, given his last name, he’s continued to draw unprecedented media attention for a player taken that low.
Considering that, it wasn’t surprising to see the fans being quite displeased with his performance in his second game of the California Classic Summer League.
As pointed out by Hoop Central, he finished the game with three points on 1-of-3 shooting, five rebounds, three assists, two steals, and three blocks.

Some believe he has the potential to be a solid 3-and-D backup in the league, and his defense is most definitely his calling card.
Also, it’s hard to expect anything else from him, given that these were pretty much the same numbers he posted in his lone season in college.
This is the player Bronny is at this stage in his development, and that’s perfectly fine, even if his contract doesn’t resemble his actual production and impact on the court.
