With the NBA playoffs well underway, the league is starting to announce the winners of its regular-season awards, starting with Defensive Player of the Year and the first-ever Clutch Player of the Year.
Jaren Jackson Jr. of the Memphis Grizzlies was recently dubbed the league’s best defensive player this year, and on Monday, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Sacramento Kings rising star De’Aaron Fox was named the NBA’s best in clutch situations for the 2022-23 regular-season campaign.

Fox has had an incredible season, with the 25-year-old leading the Kings to the franchise’s first playoff berth in 16 years while clinching the third seed in the Western Conference.
Although there have been a lot of doubts about Fox’s being able to be the face of the franchise and the right leader for Sacramento, this season’s performance alongside Domantus Sabonis has proven all his doubters wrong.
As if his clutch performances throughout the regular season weren’t impressive enough, Fox has helped lead the Kings to a 2-0 first-round playoff series lead over the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors.
Fox beat out fellow finalists DeMar DeRozan of the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler for the Clutch Player of the Year award.
During the regular season, Fox averaged 25.0 points, 6.1 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game while shooting 51.2% from the floor and 32.4% from beyond the arc and being the best player in the league in clutch situations.
