With how wide-open the NFC currently looks in the offseason, the Dallas Cowboys appear to be one of the favorites to come out of it.

The Cowboys offense will once again be led by Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, along with great secondary pieces in Tony Pollard, Michael Gallup, and Brandin Cooks.

The backfield evolved in the 2022 season as the team moved away from Ezekiel Elliott and gave Pollard more reps in the run and pass game.

Pollard is set to take over as the full-time starter though it remains to be seen if he’ll be able to handle such an increased workload.

Fortunately, the Cowboys have some depth in the running back room after they took Deuce Vaughn in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

Vaughn has been a fan-favorite throughout the preseason and they couldn’t help but gush over one of his touchdown runs against the Seattle Seahawks via PFF:

Darren Sproles 2.0

Vaughn’s size and stature have drawn comparisons to Darren Sproles and when watching the clip it’s easy to see why because of his ability to slip through defenders and fight through contact.

At the NFL level, it’s hard to see Vaughn as more than a change-of-pace back but that sort of role suits him perfectly.

Pollard’s dealt with injuries in the past, so if he were to miss time then Vaughn would be in line for more snaps though he wouldn’t be able to handle a workhorse load.

Still, the rookie has looked like a legitimate find and Dallas is looking better off for it.
