For months, fans have speculated about Draymond Green’s future with the Golden State Warriors organization, and rightfully so.
First, it was his altercation with Jordan Poole and how he seemed angry after Poole talked to him about free agency, and then were the reports of him wanting a max contract extension.
So, now that Shams Charania of The Athletic reports that Green will opt out of the final year of his deal — which is worth $27.5 million — some fans were ready to recruit him for their team.

Even so, Green still isn’t a lock to leave the Warriors.
This could just mean that he’s going to sign another multi-year deal worth more money but with a more team-friendly number for his year-to-year salary.
Green has built a legacy in the Bay Area, and he’s repeatedly talked about his desire to finish his career with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson.
Also, it’s hard to envision him walking away after that blow to the ego that was losing in the playoffs against the Los Angeles Lakers.
Moreover, the Warriors know that Green is the heart and soul of that championship core, and they won’t have enough money to replace him if he winds up leaving.
He will most definitely be tempted to join multiple other teams, and there should be no shortage of interest and suitors for his elite defense and playmaking.
But at the end of the day, it’s hard to think he’s not going to run it back for at least another season.
