Draymond Green is undisputedly one of the leaders of the Golden State Warriors.
His energy is contagious, and his defense and playmaking have been staples of the Steve Kerr era.
But he’s not exactly beloved or respected among rival fanbases.
He’s earned a bit of a reputation for being a somewhat dirty player, especially in the playoffs.
One might say that some of the incidents he’s been involved in have been rather incidental, but he’s been involved in way too many already.
That’s why he might not get the benefit of the doubt anymore and why referees didn’t hesitate to send him to the locker room after stomping on Domantas Sabonis’ chest.

Several fans rushed to call him out over this play, even though, to his defense, Sabonis did blatantly grab his leg before that.

It looks like Green didn’t have another choice but to step over him to avoid falling, but from that to stomping, that’s a lot.
Whether that was intentional or not is not for us to debate, and Sabonis will now have to undergo X-rays on his chest after that altercation.
As for Green, he might even face further discipline from the league, as he’s always been made an example of, and referees tend to have a shorter leash when it comes to him.
