The Boston Celtics headed down to Atlanta on Friday night to take on the Hawks.
They wanted to grab a 3-0 lead in the series but instead, the Hawks were able to pull off a 130-122 win and the series now stands at 2-1 before Game 4, which will also be held in Atlanta.
Jaylen Brown was again an important part of the Celtics’ lineup, although he had a bit of an off night by scoring 15 points and going 0-of-4 from the three-point line.
He was getting a lot of attention before the game for something not remotely associated with the NBA.
Brown’s choice of shoes set the internet ablaze on Friday.
The shoes were very decorative with a purple and gold color scheme, a parody of the Nike slogan “Just Do It”, references to hidden pyramids, and a questioning of James Naismith, the man who created basketball.

The shoes created strong opinions online and most of them weren’t very favorable.
Many Celtics fans were upset to see Brown wearing something that was decked out in Lakers’ colors.
“Would be nice if we could have our best players not wear lakers colors in the playoffs,” one user said.

There was a huge number of people who made fun of Brown’s shoes because Naismith’s name was spelled incorrectly.
“Jaylen, just do…you know…better,” a fan complained about the embarrassing typo.
well it’s “naismith” ain’t it. come on Jaylen, just do… you know… better.

Brown’s shoes definitely didn’t get high marks from many people online and there were quite a few who used them as an opportunity to make fun of Brown and his somewhat eccentric personality.
lol what a complete imbecile

This isn’t the first time that Brown has worn flamboyant shoes during a game.
But these ones were definitely his most divisive.
