The Miami Heat just became the sixth No. 8 seed to take down a No. 1 seed in NBA history, and it’s mostly thanks to Jimmy Butler.
Butler has been on a whole different level since the start of the playoffs, leading his team to a 4-1 series win despite not having his second-leading scorer, Tyler Herro.
He averaged 37.6 points and 6.0 rebounds on 59.7% from the floor and a whopping 44.4% from beyond the arc, including a 56-point explosion, the fourth-highest scoring total in NBA playoff history.

Middleton is not that guy. 33 pts but can’t close a game out as the best 3 level player in the team. He’s not on that Jaylen brown J Murray level. He gets clustered and has soft hands. The rebound with Lopez he hit it and went out of bounds no awareness. ‘And more examples

Butler’s name isn’t mentioned often when talking about the best players in the NBA.
He’s not even a perennial All-Star, not that he cares about that game at all.
But Butler has proven to be a great leader and a guy who’ll leave everything on the court when it matters the most, and that kind of energy is just contagious.
Butler has already led the Heat to the NBA Finals, and he doesn’t want to be on the losing end of that stage ever again in his career.
The Heat will be without Herro for the next three weeks at the very least, so he’ll have to continue doing some heavy-lifting for Erik Spoelstra’s team.
Ahead of them will be a matchup with the red-hot New York Knicks, though, so it won’t get any easier for Jimmy Buckets and company.
