It’s been a very, very long time since the Denver Broncos had a star at the quarterback position.
Peyton Manning’s retirement left a void in the organization, a void they haven’t been able to fill just yet.
However, it’s not like they haven’t tried or that they didn’t have more than enough chances to do so.
One of those opportunities came back in 2018.
John Elway and the Broncos were in possession of the No. 5 pick, and while taking Bradley Chubb seemed like a no-brainer, given his talents and physical tools, they could’ve landed Josh Allen instead.
In a recent appearance on Barstool Sports’ Pardon My Take, the Broncos legend admitted that passing on Allen was his biggest mistake as a GM.

Not drafting Allen or not hiring Kyle … both of those sting

He admitted that he was exactly his type as a quarterback, and he still regrets not using that pick to get him.
The Broncos traded Chubb after four years with the organization, so even though he was great for them, it’s not like they got that much out of him.
Granted, Allen entered the league with some doubts, as he was quite raw and all potential at that point.
Fast forward to today, and he’s a perennial MVP candidate and one of the absolute best quarterbacks in the game.
The Broncos, on the other hand, can only hope that Bo Nix is the guy they’ve been craving since Manning called it quits and walked away from the game.
