It’s been a while since the Sacramento Kings last made the playoffs.
It took them 17 years to end the longest postseason drought in all major sports, and the world has changed quite a lot ever since.
To put it in context, LeBron James was in his third season, and Steve Nash won MVP.
There are Kings fans that have never actually watched their team in the playoffs.
So, now that the Kings will officially host postseason basketball, some fans were still in disbelief after their victory last night.

Coach Mike Brown has done an outstanding job in charge of the team, and he should get plenty of consideration for NBA Coach of the Year.
The Kings’ front office drew plenty of criticism for letting go of Tyrese Haliburton for Domantas Sabonis last season, but it proved to be a win-win move for both organizations.
De’Aaron Fox finally took that leap forward and played at the All-Star level scouts thought he could play, and this Kings team looks like a legit threat to go far in the postseason.
Moreover, even if they go home early this year, they’re still a young and up-and-coming team with a bright future ahead of them, so we don’t expect them to go another 17 years without reaching the playoffs.
