Rob Pelinka has had one of the best summers for a general manager as he drastically improved the Los Angeles Lakers roster.
Pelinka was able to negotiate new deals for Austin Reaves, Rui Hachimura, and D’Angelo Russell while also bringing in several free agents such as Gabe Vincent, Taurean Prince, and Jaxson Hayes.
While those moves were already great enough, Pelinka outdid himself when he was able to sign Christian Wood to a two-year minimum deal.
Wood was the best remaining free agent on the board and after waiting out to see what came of Damian Lillard and James Harden, he finally decided on his new home.
The center is a talented offensive player who can score both inside and outside, giving the Lakers much more versatility.
As soon as the signing was announced, The Athletic released a potential starting lineup that excited Lakers fans.
The projected starting lineup shows D’Angelo Russell (G), Austin Reaves (G), Anthony Davis (F), Lebron James (F), and Christian Wood (C).

The purple and gold faithful have every reason to be hyped about the roster as Wood fills a clear need.
Prior to his signing, the only two true bigs on the team were Anthony Davis and Hayes, so Wood gives them much-needed depth in the front court.
He’s also good insurance to have in the event that Davis is forced to miss any time due to injury.
For a minimum deal, Los Angeles couldn’t have done any better and the best part of the contract is that they can easily cut bait if Wood doesn’t work out.
The Lakers were already considered a title contender, but adding Wood makes them even more dangerous.
