With no NBA games to watch on Monday night, all eyes were set on the grand NCAA Tourney final.

The UConn Huskies were back to the big game and were favored by as many as 7.5 points over the San Diego State Aztecs, and it didn’t take long before they established their dominance.

The Huskies were up by almost 20 with just under three minutes left in the first half, and they never took their feet off the gas.

The Aztecs tried to make it interesting in the second half but to no avail.

The Huskies’ defense and shot-making were just too much to handle, leading them to a 17-point win to crown themselves as the No. 1 team in college basketball.

That’s why UConn alumni and beloved sports host Molly Qerim couldn’t be happier, and she took to Twitter to share her full Huskies apparel and celebrate the championship.

Congrats #UCONN
NATIONAL CHAMPS!!!!!

Can’t wait for @FirstTake!

UConn has won five titles in the past 24 years, but it had been awhile since they amassed this kind of glory.

The Huskies hadn’t won the national championship since 2014 when Shabazz Napier rose to prominence and was deemed by LeBron James as the best point guard in the nation.

Now, it might be Adama Sanogo’s time to follow the steps of former Huskies Ray Allen, Kemba Walker, and the aforementioned Napier to the NBA, as he averaged 20.2 points and 9.8 rebounds to earn Most Outstanding Player honors.
