On Wednesday night, it was announced that Monty Williams would be the new head coach of the Detroit Pistons.
Williams was relieved of duty from the Phoenix Suns just a few weeks ago and it wasn’t a shock to see him hired by a new franchise.
It was, however, a bit surprising to see just how much money he was going to make.
According to James L. Edwards III, Williams could be earning “up to $100 million with incentives” during his first contract with the Pistons.
He is already going to be the highest-paid coach in the league and the fact that he could make up to $100 million is even more jaw-dropping.

Jaws were certainly dropped online when the news leaked, for both good and bad reasons.
Many people gave Williams praise for securing a new deal but they don’t see how all that money and all that coaching talent will result in the Pistons becoming true contenders.

Other people joked that Williams received a great deal because he will make millions of dollars while still enjoying a long summer break.

However, other people believe that Williams’ hiring is the start of a new era in Detroit.
They have a few great young players and they now have a coach who has helped his team reach the Finals.

In fact, multiple people online said that fans shouldn’t be sleeping on the Pistons now that Williams is on board.

When the last season ended, it was clear that the Pistons have a long way to go before they are a great team.
