With the 2023 NBA regular season coming to an end in the next week or so, the attention is going to shift to the NBA playoffs and the upcoming NBA Draft Lottery.
Teams still in the running to contend for a title will have their sights set on making a deep playoff run, while teams that struggled or are rebuilding will hope things go their way in the lottery, which is set to take place on May 16.
The Victor Wembanyama sweepstakes have been well underway for quite some time, with teams angling to get the draft position possible for a chance to bring in the versatile superstar.
According to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony, one NBA executive already regrets not setting up his team to have a better chance at drafting the French phenom.

That’s a pretty telling statement in terms of what NBA executives think regarding the potential impact the international superstar will have once he’s officially in the league.
The consensus seems that Wembanyama is the real deal and will immediately be a franchise player for an NBA team.
Players in the past have been hyped up like this before and failed miserably to live up to expectations.
There’s always a chance that happens with Wembanyama, but as of right now, teams appear to be drooling at the prospect of drafting the 19-year-old out of France.
It’ll be interesting to see which team comes out on top in the lottery next month and whether other teams make a play for the No. 1 overall pick leading up to draft day on June 22.
