Heading into the final week of the 2022 NFL season, the Houston Texans were in the driver’s seat for the number one overall pick in the 2023 draft.
All they had to do was lose their final game, and the first pick was theirs.
However, in Lovie Smith’s final act as their head coach, the Texans ended up beating the Indianapolis Colts, meaning that the Chicago Bears finished the season with the worst NFL record.
The Texans are still projected to draft a quarterback with their second-overall pick but will have one less prospect to choose from.
Ahead of the draft, the Texans have recently met with Bryce Young.
According to Adam Schefter, via Dov Kleiman, this meeting is “a waste of time.”

Schefter believes that the Carolina Panthers will draft Young, given their recent decision to trade up for the first overall pick.

However, Young only missed 1 game due to injury as a 2-year starter in the SEC.

Young is 5-foot-10 and weighed in at 204 pounds at the combine.
He will be one of the shortest quarterbacks ever to be drafted, and many wonder if his game will translate.

Despite some doubters, other fans believe that Stroud will be just fine in the NFL.
