For years, the NFL had two stars with the same name, one on each side of the field.
We had Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills quarterback, and Josh Allen, the Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end.
Now, those who constantly look up their stats on the internet can finally celebrate, as the latter has officially decided to change his name.
In a clip shared by the Jaguars, the star defensive end revealed that he wanted to honor his family, so, like his sister, he’s going to don the Hines-Allen last name (via Ari Meirov).
Needless to say, it didn’t take long before fans took to Twitter to share their remarks about that.

Allen talked about how important legacy and family are to him, adding that he was looking forward to hearing his ‘new’ name called next season.
He’s paying homage to his mother’s side of the family, honoring several former athletes who have also worn the Hines’s last name on their jerseys.
His sister, Myisha Hines-Allen, plays for the Washington Mystics of the WNBA.
His other sisters, LaTorri Hines-Allen and Kyre Hines Allen, also played college basketball, and his uncle Gregory Hines was actually drafted by the Golden State Warriors in the early 80s after a legendary career at Hampton University.
