The San Francisco 49ers have made it loud and clear that they’re going to roll with Brock Purdy.
Mr. Irrelevant excelled in his role as a fill-in starter, outplaying both Trey Lance and Jimmy Garoppolo when he was forced to be on the field for Kyle Shanahan’s team.
They liked what they saw, and GM John Lynch made it known that he’s their guy going forward.
Needless to say, that puts former third-overall pick Trey Lance in a tough spot.
Lance has failed to finish either of his first two seasons with multiple injuries, and he was supposed to be the future of the franchise.
He was raw and a work in progress when he first entered the league, but the upside was most definitely there.
So, now that Purdy is expected to be QB1, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed that multiple teams have already reached out to the Niners to inquire about his availability in a potential trade.

That news was met with mixed reviews by fans, with some urging their teams to pursue him and others not so sold on Lance.

There were multiple reports about Lance’s development not going as smoothly and fast as the Niners would’ve wanted.
But he’s still quite young and has the talent and upside to be worth a chance at this point, especially if the price makes sense.
Then again, the Niners might be in no rush to give up on him already, which is why a trade may not be imminent right now.
