James Harden caused a big mess when he called Philadelphia 76ers president Daryl Morey a liar last week.
But he also caused himself a small financial headache too.
Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Tuesday that the NBA is finding Harden $100,000 for his public lashing of Morey.
While that is a good deal of money, many fans on Twitter were pointing out that it won’t hurt Harden too much.
The NBA is fining Sixers star James Harden $100,000 for his recent comments referring to franchise president Daryl Morey as a “liar,” sources tell ESPN.

Some people felt that the fine was excessive because Harden was simply stating his mind about the team president.
If the NBA investigation into the matter finds that Morey really did lie to Harden then this fine will seem even more excessive and outrageous to people.
That’s a little excessive

But many other people felt that the fine was very tiny compared to the amount of money that Harden annually makes.
That’s all?

When you add up the money he makes from his contract plus the endorsements and sponsorships he has, this won’t cost Haden a whole lot in the grand scheme of things.
Hugggeeee fine for Harden, whose made $300mil just from the NBA…
That’s not even including his Adidas shoe deal + advertisements….

“What a laughable fine,” one Twitter user, said, joking that Hraden sold more money in wine than that fine in just ten seconds.
He sold more in wine in just 10 seconds. What a laughable fine

“What’s this? $10 to a regular person,” another Twitter user said jokingly about the punishment.

The NBA was never going to fine Harden an amount of money that would really hurt him.
Instead, they know this is just a slap on the wrist.
But will it make him think twice in the future about saying something so publicly?
The league is trying to send a message to Harden and all other players, even if the amount they are charging isn’t a whole lot.
