The big debate heading into the 2023 NFL Draft was whether Bryce Young of the University of Alabama or Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud would be the first player chosen.

Both quarterbacks are thought to have tremendous potential, but there have been questions about how Young will hold up at the next level given the fact he has been measured at just 5-foot-10 and about 200 pounds.

But as many eventually expected, the Carolina Panthers took him at No. 1, allowing the Houston Texans to go with Stroud at No. 2.

Some are pleased with the pick and feel Stroud will go far.

I’m happy for this amazing young man and the Texans.

Texans finally got a good QB

There were whispers that perhaps the Texans may go with Anthony Richardson, the QB from the University of Florida, at No. 2, and this fan wishes they would’ve done so in order for the Indianapolis Colts to take Stroud at No. 4.

NOOOOO HE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A COLT

This fan really doesn’t like the fact that Houston decided to go with Stroud.

This was the worst decision ever made by the Texans of drafting C.J. Stroud. I thought C.J. Stroud would end up going to the Colts or to the Falcons. It seems this kinda idea made Texans to rethink, if they made bad or good decision of drafting C.J. Stroud in 2023.

Stroud threw for 3,688 yards and 41 touchdowns last season, and he ended his college career with a robust 69.3 percent pass completion rate.

The Texans are very much a work in progress after a 3-13-1 finish in 2022, but they do have veteran wide receiver Robert Woods to pair with Stroud.

But the move that raised eyebrows was the decision to trade with the Arizona Cardinals in order to also nab the No. 3 pick, which the Texans used on Will Anderson Jr., a talented linebacker from Alabama who had 10.0 sacks in 2022 and 17.5 sacks in 2021.

Anderson will allow new Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans to establish a team culture that is built around a hard-hitting defense like the one he had as the defensive coordinator of the San Francisco 49ers the last two seasons.
