After weeks of speculation, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has finally secured a humongous bag.
On Thursday evening, just after the official start of the 2023 NFL season, he agreed to a five-year contract extension that will pay him $275 million per Adam Schefter.
This extension will make him the highest-paid player in the history of the league.

Some fans feel Burrow timed this extension in order to steal the spotlight from the Thursday night Week 1 matchup between the Detroit Lions and the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.

This deal comes on the heels of some other huge deals that have been handed out this year to players such as Lamar Jackson, Justin Herbert and, most recently, San Francisco 49ers star defensive end Nick Bosa.
While one could argue that, according to the market, Burrow deserves every penny of this extension, now the question is how the Bengals will keep their core together.
Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins, their two star wide receivers, will soon be up for extensions themselves, and it will be a challenge for the organization to pay them while navigating the NFL’s punitive salary cap.
This fan feels doing so won’t be doable.
No money left for Higgins and Chase

Burrow is one of the two or three best quarterbacks in the world today, and he recorded 4,475 passing yards and 35 passing touchdowns last season while leading Cincinnati to a 12-4 record.
In his three-year career, he has taken his team to two AFC Championship Games, as well as Super Bowl LVI, where they narrowly lost to the Los Angeles Rams.
The conference may be a gauntlet, but with the Chiefs losing multiple key contributors, this may be the best shot the Bengals will have at winning the world championship.
