Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette was placed on the injured list with a right quad strain on August 29.
However, he started intensifying his workouts a couple of days later, on September 1, so you just knew he wasn’t going to stay on the shelf for long.
On Friday, the Blue Jays announced he would be activated from the list, completing a quick return to action.
Words don’t begin to describe how important Bichette is for the Blue Jays.

Among players with at least 500 plate appearances, Bichette is the only one on the Blue Jays roster that boasts an OPS over .800.
He is at .831.
He is fourth in the American League in hits with 152, and that’s with two separate IL stints this season with knee tendinitis and then the right quad strain.
If the Blue Jays are going to have a chance at going places this season, they need Bichette hitting base knocks at the top of the lineup.
He remains one of the most consistent offensive performers in the game, and also one of the most underrated.

Judging by the replies on the Blue Jays’ tweet announcing Bichette’s return, he is also one of the most popular members of the team, if not the most popular.
He will join the team in the heat of a race for a playoff spot: the Blue Jays would have a place if the regular season ended today, but they have the Texas Rangers breathing down their necks just half a game behind.
