With the Phoenix Suns desperate to be a legitimate NBA title contender under new owner Mat Ishbia, the team has been very aggressive in its efforts to put together the best roster and coaching staff possible in order to compete with the best of the best in the Western Conference.
Coming into the 2023-24 NBA regular season, the Suns upgraded their roster with the addition of Bradley Beal, whom they acquired in the Chris Paul trade to the Washington Wizards, and hired one-time NBA champion head coach Frank Vogel, formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers.
Everything was in place for the Suns to become the title contenders they intended to be, but the team failed to live up to expectations, Beal rarely was healthy, and the team failed to gel under Vogel’s guidance.
After being swept in the first round of the NBA playoffs by the upstart Minnesota Timberwolves, the Suns officially parted ways with Vogel on Thursday after only one season with the team, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

It seems as though Vogel didn’t get a fair shake in Phoenix, which is a lot like his stint with the Lakers, where he was fired two years removed from winning a title with the team in the NBA bubble in Orlando, Florida.
In Phoenix, Vogel wasn’t given much time to put everything together, as the team had invested so much in its three star players that there wasn’t much left over to address the rest of the roster.
Although the Suns have parted ways with the veteran head coach, he likely won’t be unemployed for long, as he’s arguably the best coach available on the open market along with Mike Budenholzer.
