For all of 2023–24, there has been a lot of speculation about Klay Thompson and his future with the Golden State Warriors.
Now, just weeks after the Warriors failed to reach the playoffs, a rumor is emerging about a possible new team for Thompson.
According to Shams Charania, via NBACentral, there is “mutual interest” between the Orlando Magic and Thompson.
A few years ago, the thought of Thompson leaving the Warriors seemed unbelievable and now he might be just months away from moving to a new franchise.

When Charania revealed this big piece of news, fans online began to share their opinions.
Some people said that Thompson isn’t an attractive asset in 2025.
He definitely had the worst season of his career in 2023-24, which has some Magic fans nervous.
However, he still can bounce back and have a revenge season and perhaps a change of scenery would lead to that.

Others warned the Magic that Thompson would never live up to his contract and would still have his problems.
However, as long as they are aware of that, they should make a deal to improve the team.
He’d actually be good for that team, but he’ll never live up to his contract.

Many people noted that Thompson would be a huge help when it comes to mentoring the rest of the team.
The Magic are young and have little playoff experience.
Meanwhile, Thompson has been in the league for years and has been to the postseason numerous times.
Even if his shooting has been impaired lately, he could give the team much-needed knowledge.

The very fact that this rumor is floating around shows that Thompson really might be leaving the Warriors this summer.
Whether it be to the Magic or another team, Thompson could soon be saying goodbye to Golden State.
