To say that the Detroit Pistons had a disappointing season would be a massive understatement.
Despite their plethora of talent and multiple first-round picks, they won just 14 games all season.
That’s why they didn’t want to wait much longer before pulling the plug on the Monty Williams era.
According to a report by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Pistons’ new President, Trajan Langdon, decided to fire Williams, who’s still owed north of $65 million.

Needless to say, the news was surprising because of the amount of money they’ll have to pay him, not so much for how things went down on the basketball court.

Williams was coming off having plenty of success with the Phoenix Suns, leading them to the NBA Finals and even being named NBA Coach of the Year.
Williams reportedly could’ve made $100 million with his contract with the Pistons.
Detroit will now be in scramble mode to try and find a new head coach at this point in the offseason, and there won’t be that many options.
Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t even turn this painful season into the No. 1 selection, but they still have a promising roster.
