Fans React To Today’s Nick Foles Announcement

Nick Foles may not have had the greatest NFL career ever, but he’ll go down as a Philadelphia Eagles legend until the end of time.

The hero of their lone Super Bowl run has officially retired from the game of football, sharing a heartfelt message on his Twitter account.

After much thought and prayer, I’ve decided to retire from the NFL. It’s been an incredible 11-year journey filled with unforgettable moments and amazing people. From being drafted by the Eagles to winning the Super Bowl, every step has been a blessing.

Unsurprisingly, the Eagles announced that Foles, who spent his final season with the Indianapolis Colts in 2022, would retire as an Eagle and be honored during the team’s home opener on September 16.

The 35-year-old was the Colts’ third-string quarterback but got a chance to play and start for them in the final two games of the season, both resulting in losses.

The Colts released him shortly after, and he went unsigned until now.

Foles walks away from the game after throwing 14,227 yards, 82 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions in 71 appearances.

He made it to the Pro Bowl in 2013, leading the league in passer rating (119.2) and throwing 27 touchdowns against just 2 interceptions under Chip Kelly’s offense.

Then, four years later, he took the reins of the team in the playoffs to replace an injured Carson Wentz.

His playoff run was one for the ages, throwing for 971 yards, six touchdowns, and one pick.

He capped it off by taking down Tom Brady and the almighty New England Patriots in the Super Bowl, outplaying his opposition, earning Super Bowl MVP honors, and becoming an Eagles legend until the end of time.
