As soon as the news broke that the Los Angeles Clippers and Paul George were parting ways, most people assumed he was going to join the Philadelphia 76ers.
George reportedly had an interest in being traded to the Golden State Warriors and the Warriors had multiple solid offers to trade for him, yet the Clippers didn’t accept any of them.
So, becoming a free agent pretty much meant that the door wide open for the Sixers to swoop right in.
Now, Shams Charania reports that he has agreed on a four-year, supermax deal worth $212 million to join the likes of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey in the City of Brotherly Love.

Of course, George is a massive upgrade from the ever-underperforming Tobias Harris, and the Sixers are now a legitimate NBA Championship contender.
Even with Embiid’s constant injury-related absences, a one-two punch of Maxey and George should be able to keep Nick Nurse’s team in contention.
George is one of the best two-way players in the game, and he’s not to blame for the Clippers’ constant shortcomings.
He can play elite defense and put up 25 points per game with ease, and the Sixers should be a huge problem going forward.
He’s now back in the Eastern Conference, which also makes it easier for him to reach the NBA Finals once and for all.
