The new owners of the Washington Commanders are ready to make their mark on the franchise this offseason.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning report that the team is expected to fire head coach Ron Rivera after Week 18.

Rivera coached for four years in Washington but only led the Commanders to one playoff berth and no winning seasons.

So with the Commanders ready to move on from their head coach, fans of the team were excited about the decision and speculated on who could possibly take over for him in 2024.

The Commanders job is more attractive than it’s been in decades, thanks to competent ownership, some building blocks on the roster, a potential top-three draft pick and extra draft capital to potentially package and target a new franchise QB. That could appeal to the most coveted…

Appreciate all Coach Rivera did to maintain some semblance of organizational stability during a crazy time. He’s a good man and I hope he stays involved in the league. That said, it’s time. As a lifelong fan, I’m ready for the next chapter of Washington football.

The Commanders job is attractive because of how the team is set up for next year.

Washington will have, at best, the No. 2 pick in an NFL draft with two quality quarterbacks, one dynamic wide receiver, and a couple of great offensive linemen at the top of the board.

Skill position players like running back Brian Robinson Jr. and wideouts Terry McLaurin, Jahan Dotson, and Curtis Samuel are also great talents on offense.

The defense is the biggest issue after Washington traded away Chase Young and Montez Sweat this year and has a lot of money tied up in two other defensive linemen.

Whoever comes in as the new head coach will also have to compete in one of the hardest divisions in the NFL – the NFC East – with the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys set up for success for the next few years.

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick sounds like a possibility for the team, but he would either need to be fired or traded to Washington in order to join the team.
