The Cleveland Cavaliers were one of the most surprising teams in the league last season, picking up things where they left them two seasons ago.
Evidently, Donovan Mitchell’s arrival was a big step in the right direction, as he was a major upgrade over Collin Sexton.
But now that the team has fallen short in the playoffs, it seems like the front office could be looking at a major overhaul.
According to Sam Amico (via NBA Central), the Cavaliers could be open to trading Darius Garland.
Needless to say, that shocking report prompted plenty of reactions on social media, from some people in disbelief to others urging the team not to do it.

Darius Garland is just 23 years old and averaged….
PPG: 21.2
APG: 7.8
3P%: 41%
He’s going to be very expensive to trade for

Picking Mitchell over Garland could be a catastrophic mistake

Notably, this comes out of the blue.
Garland is quite coachable and down to Earth, and there have never been reports of off-court issues or even injury concerns.
He slotted in perfectly next to Mitchell, as his usage remained pretty much the same form his days sharing the backcourt with Sexton, and they seemed to develop a strong rapport on and off the court.
The Cavs are a piece away from being a legit dark-horse to come out of the Eastern Conference, but as valuable as Garland is, it seems tough to envision them getting someone better in return right now.
They might just be testing the waters to explore his actual trade value, but as of now, moving on from their former first-round pick and young borderline All-Star looks like a huge mistake by this organization.
